Welcome to my new exciting venture!
Think of a flower in bloom, heavy and needing support from the stem, now think of your body as the stem with your head perfectly balanced on top.
I have developed Stem Sessions with the aim of specifically looking at how to walk in order to alleviate strain on knee and hip joints or lower back.
A Stem Session is in two parts, part one is an indoor session where the Alexander Technique is explained, demonstrated and taught.
The second part is a practical session walking along the seafront with touch and guidance from me and includes a stop for tea and discussion!
Of course you don't have to be in pain to experience a Stem Session! Walking is done for enjoyment and is good exercise. Creative thought often occurs when walking.
This is what author John le Carre has to say about walking:
"I have a walking appetite just as I have other appetites, and am quite frustrated if it can't be answered on demand. Moving gets me unclogged in my head. I almost never make a note when I'm walking and usually forget the great lines I have composed, which s probably just as well. But I come home knowing that life is possible and even, sometimes, beautiful".
There is a maximum of ten people on each course, so it is a chance to get together with like-minded people. Not only ill you learn how to walk in a much lighter, freer way, you will have fun along the way.
Stem Sessions take place in Hastings, Bexhill, Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells and cost £25.00. Please contact me if you would like further information.
